Hot Date by George Batchelor

Here’s a game where you speed date a socially awkward pug.

Sounds amazing, right? It is.

Your students will not know what to do with this game. They will laugh, cringe, and empathize with this often clueless pup and his attempts to impress his many dates. He does everything “wrong” but is still very endearing. Of course, the idea is to see a poor model of certain interpersonal skills and encourage students to use Active Listening and other SEL skills instead. But the game also teaches students how to be kind and careful with others who are not as socially competent.

Possible SEL Application:

  • First Impressions
  • Emotion Identification
  • Communication Skills
  • Perspective Taking
  • Active Listening
  • Assuming Positive Intent
